Lake Hayes & Shotover Country
In 2018 at the request of the LHSC Community Association we took a look at life in Lake Hayes Estate and Shotover Country. Unlike our bigger projects, this was a quick “community snapshot” highlighting the growing pains of two of the district’s newest suburbs.
Through public forums and an online survey, 130 residents – including local students – shared their views. With lower turnout at meetings, the project didn’t move to a task force stage. Instead the feedback was pulled into a practical report for Council and community groups.
The message was clear: infrastructure hadn’t kept up, with traffic, poor walking and cycling links and a lack of local gathering spaces top concerns.
